In 1939, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, college friends from Stanford turned business partners, starting the original Silicon Valley startup in the space of a rented Palo Alto garage. Their first products were audio oscillators, the friends built the foundation for a company that would grow to become a global leader in enterprise technology. For the first 30 years as a company, including the Second World War period, their focus was in small electronic equipment, and only in 1966 they entered the computing business, with a series of minicomputers. The next decade brought a whole new offer of products like desktops computers, desktop printers, and ASCII terminals.
The company faced a turbulent period for over ten years, from 1999 until 2011. This phase was marked by some troubled acquisitions, like Compaq, Autonomy, and EDS, as well as substantial replacement of CEOs, with 3 exchanges of professionals. It was only in 2011, with the entrance of Meg Withman on the post, that this crisis would finally ease. Meg oversaw the division of Hewlett-Packard into HP Inc. and HPE.
Meg Whitman then assumed the position of HPE’s CEO, a place that she maintained until the end of 2017. As the head of the company, she implemented the main focus on enterprise hardware, through software and business services. She also wanted to increase the company’s in-memory computing efforts, focus on hybrid IT and edge computing capabilities.

About marketing strategies for 2020 the company presented the HPE Marketing Hub, which allows its users to apply the same tools and contents that were developed for HPE, without any cost. Another service stated was Content Syndication, a platform that helps sellers to get a more attractive and updated website for their clients totally for free, including a product showcase, positioning messages, and a lead capture bottom.
